Swachh Worli Koliwada
IDFC FIRST Bank in partnership with G5A Foundation for Contemporary Culture and Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai launched project 'Swachh Worli Koliwada' in 2018 with an aim to create awareness and bring about behavior change about community driven solid waste management practices and segregation at source through a participatory process within the Worli Koliwada community.
The aim of this program is to build a zero waste neighborhood with self-sustainable zones that are equipped to manage solid waste they generate with a model where community participation will be a key at every stage, thereby ensuring sustainability of this program in the long run.
This program is expected to touch the lives of 35000 residents spread across 65 acres of Worli Koliwada community. The entire community has been mapped into 8 zones with 20 waste collecting kiosks setup across these zones with dry and wet waste facility to process 2-5 tons of waste collected every day.
To spread awareness about the program we are also conducting 25 training and awareness session with key stakeholders of the community such as the waste pickers, school children, residents, volunteers etc. Our approach also includes 5 street plays around the topic of waste management reach to help us out to the masses.
