Net Banking portal

While this is not available with all banks, you can log onto IDFC FIRST Bank’s website and request the blocking your credit card.

SMS service

If your bank has an SMS service, you can block your credit card with a single SMS. To avail this facility at IDFC FIRST Bank, please visit your nearest branch or call 1860 500 1111 from your registered mobile number.

Branch visit

You can directly visit one of the bank branches, preferably the one closest to your home, and ask them to block your credit card. You may need to carry identification and account details with you unless you have your card.

It is better to be safe and quick when trying to block credit cards. So, ensure that you use the most hassle-free option available to you.

If you have an IDFC FIRST Bank credit card, you can call 1860 500 1111 from your registered mobile number and ask for your card to be blocked. You can also report suspicious activity on your credit card. If you know your MPIN, you can block the credit card from the IDFC FIRST Bank mobile banking app. To use the website to block the card, you will need to have your internet banking ID and password handy.

If you have experienced credit card fraud or unauthorised transactions on your card, notify your bank about the same. They may ask you to make a formal complaint about the same with the nearest police station.

Apart from you blocking your credit card to be protected from fraudulent usage or scams, banks may also block your credit card without being prompted by you. It usually happens if they encounter suspicious activity like incorrect card details for transactions, unusual activity on your card, and the card being used at an unusual location.

Banks also block credit cards when they change their terms and conditions. Technical errors at the banks’ end may also get your card blocked.

How to Unblock your Credit Card?

If your card is blocked abruptly, bring it to the notice of your bank immediately. If you have previously asked the bank to block the card on your behalf, and now want to unblock it, you can contact them in the same manner you did to get your card blocked. You may also ask them how to unblock your credit cards when you put in your block request.

Sometimes, cards once blocked may take a couple of days to be unblocked. It depends on why your card was blocked. If you have lost your card or have been a victim of fraudulent transactions, it is advisable to not unblock your credit card. You can apply for a replacement card instead.
