"I joined Shwetdhara in year 2018, a program was so meticulously designed to enhance animal productivity keeping in women member at centre stage. As a member of conceptualizing team and as implementation manager of the program, I am witnessing a program, which has potential to become self-sustainable by creating 224 women entrepreneurs, which are known as Gram Sakhi, who are helping in penetrating the program among women dairy farmers, who eventually have accepted membership of Shwetdhara. The program is a complete package, which covers both supply and demand side gaps of dairying. I sincerely thank IDFC FIRST Bank for its support to End Poverty and this program."

Lighthouse Program

IDFC FIRST Bank in partnership with Pune City Connect supports sustainable livelihood program that runs through physical centers called 'Lighthouses'. Youth from slum communities in and around Aundh Pune are skilled in the lighthouse and placed at the completion of the course. These centers are run in partnership with non-profit Pune City Connect and Pune Municipal Corporation. We have trained 650 young adults since the commencement of this program in 2017.

"When I first came to the Lighthouse I preferred to be alone. But slowly through one on one conversation with the counsellors, I started opening up and became friends with others from my batch. Exposure sessions and interviews conducted by experts helped me to loosen up my rigid ideas about job. As soon as I completed the foundation course, I was selected with Carnival Cinemas as a Customer Care Executive. I joined the night shift and used to complete my class in day time. Meanwhile, I also started looking for a job in the civil engineering industry. Soon, with the help of Lighthouse I appeared for the interview at Sthapatya Developers and got selected. Now I work as a city surveyor with Akola Municipal Corporation and earn more than 10,000 rupees per month. Inspired by my journey my younger brother has also joined the Lighthouse and is currently a part of the foundation course."

Women Entrepreneurship Program

IDFC FIRST Bank in partnership with ETASHA Society provides entrepreneurship training to low-income, slum-dweller women of Delhi and helps them set-up and run their micro enterprises. We have skilled 341 women and established 6 women-led micro enterprises since the commencement of this program in 2018.

"This training has helped me a lot. I got to understand about the market and its trends. Now I feel much more confident to step out and set up a stall to sell our products on my own. Now my family supports me in participating in events and in going to markets for purchasing raw materials. I feel much more confident as I am able to do things on my own and don’t have to depend on anyone. Earlier I was not doing anything and I was just sitting at home but now I also have a goal to expand my business and wish to contribute to my family income."
