IDFC FIRST BANK MBA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

IDFC FIRST Bank MBA Scholarship is a need-based scholarship for students with family income of less than INR 6 lakhs per annum. The purpose of this scholarship is to make post graduate studies in business management accessible to meritorious students who are unable to pursue higher studies due to financial constraints.

About the Scholarship

The Scholarship Program provides access to Post Graduate Studies in Business (MBA degree or its equivalent) to eligible students who at present lack financial means to pursue their studies. It empowers the students fulfill their aspirations to study in some of the best colleges/universities in India, irrespective of their current financial background.

  • ● Students admitted in the 1st year of 2-year full-time on campus MBA or its equivalent programs at selected institutions/colleges are eligible for this scholarship

  • ● Students pursuing 'Distance/Online/Part-time/Executive, integrated MBA program or any MBA program other than 2-year full-time MBA/PGDM program are not eligible for this scholarship.

  • ● Final grant of Scholarships will take place only after due verification of their documents& on-ground screening of the shortlisted applicants. In case the applicant fails to do the needful in any of these stages or is unable to comply with the process within the stipulated timeframe, his/her candidature shall be rejected

  • ● The applicant needs to provide the details for on-ground verification as mentioned in the form to the bank representatives

  • ● The final disbursement of the scholarship will take place after submission of the fees receipt by the student-applicant

  • ● The amount of the scholarship is meant for covering the tuition fees and shall be disbursed in the account of the said institution/college of admission only. The students should contact the college administration if any reimbursement applicable, which will be the sole responsibility of the students

  • ● The final selection of awardees will be solely at the discretion of IDFC FIRST Bank

  • ● Scholarship availed can be recalled by the IDFC FIRST Bank if there is any misrepresentation from the Students

Yes, it is mandatory to have the applicant's mobile number linked to their Aadhar Card in order to apply for the scholarship. 

Is this scholarship only open for Indian Nationals?

Yes, this scholarship is only open for Indian nationals studying in campuses within the territory of India. 

Can MBA students of previous batch/batches apply for this scholarship?

No, only students who are enrolled in the first year of the full time MBA / PGDM/ MMS program in the academic year 2025-2027 are eligible to apply for this scholarship. 

I am pursuing my MBA through distance education/ Part-time MBA. Am I eligible for this scholarship?

No, only students pursuing MBA full time are eligible for the scholarship. 

I am in my second year of MBA, am I eligible for this scholarship?

No, only students enrolled in the first year of their full-time B.E. / B. Tech program (MBA/ PGDM/ MMS) in the academic year 2025-27 (Batch of 2025-27) are eligible to apply for this scholarship. 

I am enrolled in the batch of 2023-25 MBA Scholarship but did not clear my first year, Am I eligible to apply?

If you have been an IDFC FIRST bank MBA scholar in previous year(s), have not cleared your first year of the program and are re-appearing for your first-year examination, then you are not eligible to re-apply for the scholarship. however, if you are not an existing scholar of the IDFC FIRST Bank scholarship, then you may apply for the scholarship irrespective of the status of your results of the first year. 

I had applied for this scholarship last year, but I did not receive it. can I re-apply for the scholarship again this year?

If you are in the first year of your full time MBA program, you may apply for the scholarship previous years applications have no effect on next year's eligibility. 

For how many years will I receive the scholarship?

Selected MBA Scholars shall receive the scholarship for two consecutive years of their full time MBA program given that the candidate clears his/ her first year in academic year 202527 and is promoted to the second year in academic year 2026-27. 

What is the total scholarship amount for MBA?

Up to 1 lac each year for 2 years or course fee whichever is less.

Are there any application fees to apply for the scholarship?

No, there is no application fee to apply for the IDFC FIRST Bank MBA scholarship.

Is it mandatory to pass the first year to be eligible for scholarship amount of next year?

Yes, it is mandatory for all the scholars to pass the first year and be promoted to second year in the next consecutive year to be eligible for the scholarship in the second year. 

I cannot find my college in the list of colleges eligible scholarship program, what do I do?

Please note, this is the full and final list of eligible colleges for the current batch of scholarship and is not subject to any further change, if your college is not mentioned in the list of eligible colleges then, unfortunately you would not be eligible to apply for the scholarship at this time. you may suggest colleges that you would like the bank to explore for the coming years. though this does not guarantee an addition to the college in the coming years. 

I can find the name of my college in the list but a different campus, am I still eligible?

You are eligible to apply for the scholarship if your college name is mentioned in the list, irrespective of the campus location mentioned. although the campus needs to be basic within the boundaries of India. Students based in campuses outside of India are not eligible to apply. 

How do you define 'Family' while calculating income?

Income from family members including parents or guardians, spouse, unmarried daughters and unmarried brothers/ sisters of the individual applying for the scholarship is taken into consideration while calculating income.

Income from widowed daughter/ sister is excluded when calculating what is family income. 

Which documents are acceptable as proof of family income?

Income Certificate & intimation u/s 143(1) document of last financial year, no income certificate they are acceptable proofs for the calculation of family income. 

I do not have any earning member in the family, what document do I upload?

A valid, no-income certificate issued by an authority under the State Government would be needed in this case. Applicants are requested to check the validity of the certificate before submitting their applications.

What is an Income Certificate and its validity?

An income certificate is a document issued by an Authority under the state government certifying the annual income of a person or a family from all sources, including salary, daily wages, pension, business, producers from property, rent, and remittances from expatriate members.

The authority that issues the certificate varies from state to state. In most cases, it is the

Village Tahsildars that issue this certificate, but many states and union territories also have

District Magistrate, Deputy Commissioner, Collector, Revenue Circle Officers, Sub Divisional Magistrates or other District Authorities appointed for this purpose. You are requested to check on the issuing authority of your state for this requirement.

The income certificate is valid for the financial year mentioned in the certificate and varies from state to state. Applicants are requested to check for validity of the certificate before applying.

Students applying for batch starting in 2025 must ensure that their certificates are valid for FY 2025-26. 

Is the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) Certificate valid proof of Income?

No, The EWS certificate is an income and asset certificate issued to the economically weaker category and is not acceptable as income proof because it does not establish the exact income of the applicant. 

Can I submit only the agricultural income certificate as proof of income?

No, an agricultural income certificate contains only details of income obtained from involvement in all agricultural activities, whereas an income certificate includes details of annual income for all sources.

What documents do I need to upload for the scholarship application?

You are required to upload the following documents:

Admission Form (signed and stamped by the institute)

• Fee Receipt (for the current academic year)

• Income Certificate Proof (issued by a competent authority)

• Birth Certificate (issued by a competent authority) 

In what format should I upload my documents?

All documents must be uploaded in PDF, JPEG, PNG, Word Doc format. Ensure that the file is clear and legible. 

What is the maximum file size allowed for each document?

Each document should not exceed 2 MB in size. If needed, compress the file before uploading. 

What should I do if my document exceeds the file size limit?

You can use free online tools or mobile apps to compress your document to reduce its size while maintaining readability. 

What if I don’t have one of the required documents right now?

You need to ensure availability of all required documents before final submitting of application. You may proceed with filling application form details with available documents and save them, but application no will get generate only after uploading all pending documents. Please note all documents must be submitted before the application deadline to be considered. 

How can I be sure my document was uploaded successfully?

After uploading, you’ll see a confirmation message and a preview. You can also view your uploaded documents in the “My Documents” section. 

Can I edit or replace a document after uploading it?

Yes, you can edit or replace any uploaded document before final submission of the application.

What are the different conditions of Drop out from the program:

1. Application Stage Drop-out:

- A candidate whose application is under verification, can opt to drop out at any time by raising a request through the portal, to notify the CSR Team.

2. Drop-out of ‘Awarded’ Candidates:

- If a candidate, who has already been awarded the scholarship, wishes to drop out of the program midway, for any reason whatsoever, he/she must notify the CSR Team and obtain their approval.

- The candidate can raise a drop-out request through the portal. The request will be reviewed by the CSR Team, who will share the necessary approval.

3. Refund of the Scholarship Amount:

- If the scholarship has already been disbursed to the candidate, the candidate and the SPOC of his/her college will receive instructions on how to refund the amount to the IDFC FIRST Bank account.

- The candidate’s drop-out request will be approved only after the college SPOC completes the refund, and the CSR Team confirms receipt of the refund.
