Debit cards help access your funds easily through instant ATM withdrawals. You can use a debit card to shop online, pay at merchant outlets, and withdraw cash from digital kiosks. It must also be protected as it carries your bank account and personal details. The card contains a numeric series embossed on its front or back, called a debit card number, which gives it a unique identity.

What is a debit card number?

A debit card number is a 14 to 16-digit number printed on your debit card. It carries your bank account and personal details. You can use it to withdraw funds from ATMs, pay through POS (Point of Sale) machines, and carry out online transactions. Generally, the debit card number is embossed on the debit card in four groups of four digits that help uniquely identify a specific debit card.

The debit card number is a unique identifier linked to a specific account number. You can use your card number, CVV, and pin to process a transaction without a physical card.

IDFC FIRST Bank offers a range of debit cards that can be customized according to your requirements. The cards have unique features such as higher withdrawal limits, exclusive online shopping offers, airport lounge access, and enhanced payment security.

Ways to find your debit card number

If you already have a debit card, you can find your debit card number on the front side or back side of your card. However, if you own a virtual debit card or have misplaced your debit card, you can search for its number through various methods - online as mentioned below. In case you have misplaced your debit card, you should block it immediately through netbanking or mobile banking or by calling the customer service team or by visiting the branch.

  • Net banking: Login to IDFC FIRST Bank’s net banking portal: https://my.idfcfirstbank.com/login by entering your mobile number and password. Go to Accounts->Cards and click on your Debit card. Click on the eye icon and enter your MPIN to view your Debit card details. You can also block and manage your Debit card limits
  • Mobile Banking: Login to your mobile banking app and Go to Accounts> Cards and click on your Debit card. Click on the eye icon and enter your MPIN to view your Debit card details. You can also block and manage your Debit card limits

Banks ensure your privacy and ensure that your transactions remain secure. A debit card contains a card number and a CVV (Card Verification Value) number as unique identifiers for processing payments. The CVV number is confidential, just like your debit card PIN. You must keep your debit card numbers secure to avoid unauthorized transactions.
