‘No account mapped for this username’ is a common issue faced often by new users trying to log in to their bank account. Let us understand how to resolve it in this article.

Banks and financial institutions strive to provide a hassle-free and streamlined banking experience by innovating their products and services from time to time. While these services have been instrumental in easing all banking processes, some users have faced issues while trying to log in to their bank account. For instance, ‘No account mapped for this username’ is a common issue that new users face. In the article below, let’s discuss the reasons for facing this problem and the ways in which you can resolve it.

What are the causes of the ‘No account mapped for this username’ error?

Usually, when you open a bank account, you focus on the different types of services you wish to receive from your bank. These include chequebooks, debit cards and ATM services, as well as online and mobile banking services as a part of your account services to access funds.

If you have opted for an online banking service, you can log in using the credentials provided in the welcome kit. After the first login, you are required to change your password for security reasons.

However, even after logging in using your customer ID and password for the first time, you may not be able to see your primary and secondary accounts. This happens because the accounts allotted with internet banking services remain in the hidden account list for security. And the portal does not show your bank accounts list while throwing an error as ‘No account mapped for this username’.

To avoid such errors, you need to unhide your internet banking account from the hidden account list and also provide complete authentication and authorisation to access funds and execute online transactions.

IDFC FIRST Bank helps avoid this issue by providing an instant online bank account opening process where you get instant access to your online savings accounts soon after the video KYC process is complete. It hardly takes a couple of minutes to open bank account online at IDFC FIRST Bank if you have your PAN and Aadhaar card handy

Accounts are secured in a hidden account list for new internet banking users for security reasons.

How to solve the ‘No account mapped for this username’ error?

To solve this issue while logging into your bank account, you need to follow the steps given below.

  • Visit the official portal of your bank and log into your online bank account using your customer ID/username and password.
  • Once logged in successfully, navigate to the ‘My Account and Profile’ section and click on the ‘Profile’ option.
  • You can find several services and settings in the profile section such as Change Password, Personal info, Manage Accounts, Set Nicknames, etc. Choose the ‘Manage Account Display’ option from the menu.
  • Subsequently, you can see the ‘hide account’ and ‘unhide account’ options on the screen along with the list of accounts. Choose the ‘unhide account’ option.
  • Next, you need to enter your profile password or authenticate with an OTP on your registered mobile number.
  • You will find a list of accounts associated with your online banking facility. Choose the account that you wish to use for internet banking and click on the ‘Submit’ button.
  • After successful submission, you will get a confirmation notification saying ‘Modifications are successfully saved in your profile. Once the changes are made, you can view and access your account within an hour.’ on your screen.

By following the above steps, you can change the account visibility and setting to access your funds conveniently over internet banking. The process may vary slightly from bank to bank. However, you can follow the instruction mentioned on your bank’s website to change account visibility.
