The MHADA lottery scheme provides housing units to Maharashtrian citizens at prime locations in Mumbai and Pune


Housing schemes offered by both the central and state governments help the economically weaker sections of the society build a home. Maharashtra’s MHADA lottery scheme is one such housing scheme aimed at helping people from various income groups get affordable and quality houses in Mumbai and Pune. The scheme is implemented via the MHADA lottery, which has provided housing to thousands of people in the state.

What is the MHADA lottery?


MHADA is short for the Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority, established in 1948. The MHADA’s mission statement includes providing affordable houses for people from different income groups. It includes lower-income groups (LIGs), Middle Income Groups (MIGs), Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) and Higher Income Groups (HIGs).

 

 

The MHADA lottery scheme 2022-2023


As per the MHADA lottery scheme’s 2022 edition, the Pune board of the MHADA shall provide housing to eligible individuals belonging to the LIG, MIG, EWS or HIG groups. The MHADA has earmarked over 700 units for applicants belonging to the LIG category and 227 for MIG applicants. In addition, 105 housing units shall be provided to applicants belonging to the HIG category.

Eligibility criteria for the MHADA lottery scheme


The following criteria must be met to be eligible for the MHADA lottery scheme:

  • You must be above 18 years of age.
  • You must possess a Permanent Account Number (PAN) card.
  • You must be a salaried professional.
  • You must have a domicile certificate that proves that you reside in Maharashtra.

MHADA allots housing units to individuals belonging to these income groups via a lottery called the MHADA lottery.

You must provide the following documents to prove your eligibility for the MHADA lottery scheme 2022:

  • Birth certificate
  • Passport
  • PAN card
  • Aadhaar card
  • Driving license
  • Voter’s ID
  • School leaving certificate
  • Domicile certificate

Housing units under the MHADA lottery scheme


The following rules concerning housing units under the MHADA lottery scheme shall apply to individuals belonging to different income groups:

  • Applicants belonging to the EWS group can avail of units priced under ₹20 lakh.
  • Applicants belonging to the LIG group can avail of units priced between ₹20 lakh and ₹30 lakh.
  • Applicants in the MIG group can avail of units priced between ₹35 lakh and ₹60 lakh.
  • Applicants in the HIG group can avail of units priced between ₹60 lakh and ₹5.8 crores.

Applying for the MHADA lottery


If you wish to apply for the lottery, you need to follow these steps:

  • Visit the MHADA lottery 2022 scheme’s official website and create an account.
  • Select the MHADA lottery scheme you want to apply to—MHADA Mumbai or MHADA Pune scheme.
  • Fill out the MHADA online form and mention your details.
  • Select the lottery scheme in which you wish to participate.
  • Make the payment on the MHADA website to complete the process.
