IDFC FIRST Bank wins two awards at the ESG Summit & Awards, 2023

IDFC FIRST Bank has emerged triumphant at the prestigious ESG Summit & Awards 2023 by securing not just one, but two highly coveted awards.

Best Bank Leading the Way in ESG

IDFC FIRST Bank strives to support global climate action initiatives, reduce its environmental footprint, encourage responsible consumer behavior, empower its employees and communities, and use globally recognized corporate reporting frameworks. We are dedicated towards being a preferred employer that prioritizes employee wellbeing and growth. The Bank is of the firm opinion that the key to generating value over the long term is being proactive, best-in-class governance, transparency, and accountability. As a result, the Bank upholds high governance standards.

Best ESG Initiative to Improve Access to Sanitation

IDFC FIRST Bank runs the Swachh Worli Koliwada program at G South Ward, Worli Koliwada, Mumbai with the goal of promoting cleanliness and enhancing waste management in the community. The Bank upholds non-profit – Stree Mukti Sanghatana to undertake door-to-door waste collection, proper segregation, composting and sale of dry waste in Worli Koliwada. In FY 2023, more than 1,30,000+ kg of dry and wet waste were processed as compared to 92,000+ kg in FY 2022.

We have had a good impact on 3.18 lakh women customers since our launch in 2016 through the WASH (Water and Sanitation Hygiene) programme. These loans are only available for uses related to water and sanitation, such as installing toilets, collecting rainwater, installing water pipelines and connections, digging borewells, etc. We touched 59,000 women clients through this programme in the financial year 2022–23, disbursing a total of INR 250 crores. I'm happy to say that this project has impacted the lives of 2.6 lakh people in 11 Indian states.
