Knowing your bank balance gives you a better hold of your financial situation. Banks help you conveniently check your bank account balances online using mobile apps. Let us look at a list of ways to check your bank account number without visiting a bank branch.

Different Ways to Check Bank Balance
 

1. Use net banking

Net banking is one of the most efficient ways of checking your bank balance without visiting a bank. Follow these steps to check your bank account balance via net banking.

  • Visit your bank's net banking website and click on ' New to net banking? Activate now.
  • Enter your mobile number and customer ID to proceed.
  • After entering the OTP received on your registered mobile number, activate your account and enjoy the joy of banking.


2. Use a UPI app

A quick way to check your bank account balance is through a UPI (Unified Payments Interface) enabled app. UPI is a medium that helps you access your bank's services in one place. If you are a first-time UPI user, follow these instructions to register for UPI.

  • Install a UPI app on your phone.
  • Check whether the registered mobile number associated with your bank account is active.
  • Validate your phone number via an SMS sent to you by the app.
  • Create a unique PIN and a unique UPI ID.
  • Create a four-digit UPI code.

3. Visit an ATM 
 

If you are outdoors and wish to check your bank balance, visit an ATM. Follow these instructions to check your bank account balance by visiting an ATM.

  • Insert your debit card into the ATM slot.
  • Select your preferred language.
  • Enter your four-digit ATM PIN.
  • Select the bank inquiry or bank balance option.

4. Give a missed call
 

With Missed call service, you will be able to get the details of account balance by dialling the toll free number 1800 2700 720 from your registered mobile number. The following message will be played & call will be disconnected.

Message: - ‘Thanks for calling IDFC FIRST Bank! You will receive an SMS for your request shortly’

You will receive a response of account balance in the form of a text message within just a few seconds.

You can also know your bank balance by calling your bank at their toll-free number and providing details such as your account number, name, and ATM PIN. Moreover, you can also know your bank balance by placing a missed call to the bank via your registered mobile number. To avail of missed-call services, you must have an active registered mobile number.

5. Send a text message

Just send an SMS to 5676732 or 9289289960 from your registered mobile number with the transaction code for the service you want to avail. You will receive a response in the form of a text message within just a few seconds.

You can also know your bank account balance by sending an SMS to a number provided to you by your bank. The bank will send push notifications to your registered mobile number to render this service. 6. Check your passbook

A traditional way of checking your account balance is by checking your passbook. 7. Use mobile banking

Any transaction you make over an internet connection through a web page (generally, the bank's website) or a web application constitutes internet banking. 8. Check bank balance with an account number

Things to keep in mind while checking your bank account balance

  • Customers must secure their bank accounts with strong passphrases: An effective way to create a strong password is creating a “passphrase”. An example of a passphrase could be: Iopenedthisaccountin2012$. Passphrases are easier to remember and stronger than generic passwords. You can use strong passphrases as passwords to secure your online account.
  • Always remain vigilant and do not share sensitive information: Do not share your login ID and password with anyone.
  • In case you get locked out of your account, contact customer care: In case you forget your password, contact customer service through the app or by dialing the bank’s toll free number.
  • Keep changing passwords: Keep changing your password regularly.
  • Check your bank account balance while having a strong internet connection: While checking your bank account balance through a mobile banking app, ensure that you have a strong internet connection.
  • Keep multiple options open: It is advisable to form the habit of checking your bank account balance through more than one modes of banking to avoid relying on one mode.
