FAQs

How to calculate EMI on credit cards?

You can use the following formula to calculate credit card EMI:

EMI = [P x R x (1+R) ^ n] / [(1+R) ^ (n-1)]

In this formula, EMI stands for your equated monthly instalment every month; P is the principal amount of the credit card loan; R is the interest rate, and N is the loan tenure in months.

Let us understand this formula with an example. Say a credit card holder has borrowed ₹1,50,000 for a tenure of 24 months at an interest rate of 9%.

Hence,

P = ₹ 1,50,000; R = 9%; N = 24 months

Based on the formula, the monthly EMI:

EMI = ₹ 6,853.

The total amount payable:

Total amount payable = ₹ 1,64,465.
