Financial Fraud Awareness

Genuine website identification is extremely important as it prevents inadvertent sharing of personal credentials over a seemingly genuine, but fake website set up by fraudsters.

IDENTIFY A GENUINE WEBSITE BY FOLLOWING THESE STEPS

STEP 1 - LOOK FOR URL WITH `HTTPS' AND LOCK ICON

  1. Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates secure the transfer of your crucial data
  2. Genuine website is easily identified by the lock symbol
  3. Also look for ‘https' instead of ‘http' as a prefix to the website address

STEP 2 - CHECK THE DOMAIN NAME

  1. Fraudulent websites will use a domain name similar to, but slightly different from the genuine website
  2. Pay attention to the website name specially while clicking on a link received
  3. Check for minor spelling alterations, alphabet swaps, alphabet duplications etc.

STEP 3 - CHECK FOR THE 'CONTACT US' BUTTON

  1. Usually, fake websites do not have one. Instead they ask the customer to fill a form and get in touch
