How Does Vishing Work

  1. The fraudster calls the customer and claims to be calling from the Bank saying there’s a problem with your bank account or ATM card. Then fraudster will ask for personal account information to verify your identity, but again, they’re not verifying anything, they’re stealing your account information.

Financial Fraud Awareness

Advancements in Information Technology have revolutionized customers banking experience. Banks are offering services through electronic media like Internet / Mobile Banking, ATM etc. to provide rich user experience without need to visit Bank. Fraudsters are also effectively using these mediums to commit financial frauds. It is important for banking customers to be aware of financial frauds and ways to protect them against it.

What is Smishing Attack?

Smishing is combination of SMS (Short Messaging service) and Phishing (Act of attempting to acquire personal information such as passwords and credit card details). Smishing is an identity theft scheme that involves sending consumer’s text messages containing a link to a fraudulent website or a phone number in an attempt to collect personal information. Smishing messages generally contain something that demands the target’s immediate action.
