Women Entrepreneurship Program
IDFC FIRST Bank in partnership with ETASHA Society provides entrepreneurship training to low-income, slum-dweller women of Delhi and helps them set-up and run their micro enterprises. We have skilled 341 women and established 6 women-led micro enterprises since the commencement of this program in 2018.
As part of this program women form groups to share entrepreneurial roles in terms of investing their resources, time and skills for a jointly owned enterprise where decision making is shared. The support extended by the program team is aimed at developing skills in the women to take over and run their enterprise independently. The curriculum is tailored to meet the needs of women residing in slums with few classes often being conducted at their homes. The key activities of this program include creating awareness about entrepreneurship, mobilising the women, training them in basic skills and enterprise management, enterprise formation, advanced technical skill training and extending support to run the enterprise.
We have supported skilling of 341 women till date and six women led micro enterprises. These enterprises are into manufacturing of LED bulbs, spices, handmade soaps, fashion accessories and catering. Our Impact is also used towards the cost of human resources, communications, branding, designing labels and marketing collaterals, packaging etc. for select new enterprises. We also extend interest free grants as loans to those women who need financial support to expand their business which is repaid over a period of 15 months.
