IDFC FIRST Bank, in partnership with Pune City Connect and the Pune Municipal Corporation, has created a sustainable livelihood program for youth. This program is run through physical centers called ‘Lighthouses’ where youth, in and around Aundh, can train and learn new skills. Post this training, they are given an opportunity to join the workforce and become contributing members of society.
The program is a holistic journey of transformation and self-discovery through soft skills programs. The program includes various modules, exposing youth to technology, music, and art.
The entire program is divided into two courses. The first is the Foundation Course. It consists of 40-50 hours of introductory courses in various fields, followed by one-on-one counselling and market exploration sessions.
The second is the Skilling Program: a skill development training program, where students are trained in their chosen vocation. Post the Skilling Program, students are encouraged to take up placements, begin their entrepreneurial journey or pursue further education.
The program has currently migrated to virtual training due to lockdown limitations.
Running a ‘Lighthouse’ takes a significant investment. As such, we take care of the operating expenses of running a ‘Lighthouse’. This includes human resources, skill development training programs, etc. Since the beginning of this program in 2017, we’ve trained and placed over 650 youth.
At IDFC FIRST Bank, we aim to empower our customers to make a difference in the world. With this in mind, we bring you various initiatives in partnership with our partners that give you the opportunity to shoulder a cause of your choice.
