BALM Fellowship Program
IDFC FIRST Bank, in partnership with Banyan Academy for Leadership in Mental Health (BALM), supports capacity building of human resources in the field of mental health services. We provide master’s program scholarships to students from low-income groups pursuing their master’s programs at BALM. We also support grass-root level interventions through mental health mobilizers, by providing stipends and covering living and travelling costs (partly or fully) of three Diploma programs: Community Mental Health Care, working with Vulnerable Children, Applied Buddhist Psychology.
We also support the salaries of NALAM workers through a mental health education scholarship. NALAM workers promote mental health by conducting awareness programs and focus groups. Their work involves improving the understanding of mental health issues and identifying needs of the people in their area.
Mental Health Students Awarded Scholarships
154 students studying various mental health courses have been supported since the start of this program in 2017, through our mental health education scholarship. As an incentive to excel, a stipend is disbursed at the end of the course to students based on their attendance in theory and practical classes.
This year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have also extended financial support to 54 families with mental illnesses as a disability allowance, to help them cope with the lockdown and its challenges.
At IDFC FIRST Bank, we aim to empower our customers to make a difference in the world. With this in mind, we bring you various initiatives in partnership with our partners that give you the opportunity to shoulder a cause of your choice.
